GITIS Students brought the production of the show “A Very Simple Story” to the stage at the 25th Bharat Rang Mahotsav (BRM), India’s largest international theatre festivals. The show was staged by the graduating course of the Acting faculty by Professor Alexey Blokhin. Based on the play by Maria Lado, “A Very Simple Story” transforms a simple rural barn into a space where people converse with animals and hear guidance from angels, offering moments of poetic reflection.
The first performance took place in Delhi, where the production was met with warm reception and lively cultural exchange: GITIS actors answered audience questions and engaged in a valuable dialogue with members of the Indian theatre community, who praised the ensemble’s collaborative stagework and the story’s universal emotional resonance.
Following Delhi, our team continued its festival program across India. On February 7th the production was staged at the Shri Aurobindo Auditorium in Auroville (Tamil Nadu), and on February 9th at the Sri Venkateswara Vignana Mandiram in Guntur (Andhra Pradesh).
The final performance in Guntur marked the conclusion of the group’s BRM tour, drawing enthusiastic responses from audiences and enriching cross-cultural artistic exchange between Russian and Indian theatre practitioners.
