Highlights of GITIS participation at the Bharat Rang Mahotsav
For the first time this year GITIS participated at the 25th anniversary celebration of Bharat Rang Mahotsav — International Theatre Festival of India. “Casting”, a fourth-year show of musical theatre faculty (the class of Lika Rulla), was performed in New Delhi and Ramnagar. Mrs Rulla and her students met with the audience after performances. Participants from Moscow were greeted by Ms Uma Nanduri from Ministry of culture of India, Indian artist Rita Ganguly and NSD professors. During their day off they got a guided tour in Delhi from fellow students of the National School of Drama. As we’re now back home unpacking we’re sharing some highlights of our days at BRM behind the scene.
“We are so happy for the opportunity to meet new colleagues and friends and to learn so much about the theatre and culture of India. We felt that there’s a lot of interest in the Russian theatre culture we represent and also a genuine interest to get to know us better. We spent some time with NSD students who introduced us to the national theatrical education,” students shared.
Bharat Rang Mahotsav was established by the National School of Drama. Originally a national festival it is now the largest theatre festival of Asia.
